UInt8

Privacy

This is a general privacy policy for most products and services provided by UInt8, LLC (“UInt8”). Specific products or services may have their own privacy policy extensions, or in rare cases, entirely different policies, which will be linked to from those products or services.

In general, UInt8 does not collect any personal data about users of its products or services, other than what is necessary to provide the product or service itself (e.g. account information for services that require an account).

The Data Disclosure Icon

UInt8 use a distinguished Data Disclosure icon in user interfaces of its products and services, when a feature may require disclosing some of your personal data to a third-party service provider, usually with relevant details disclosed near this icon. We believe privacy and is a fundamental human right, thus we design our products to minimize personal data disclosure by default, while handing back control of data flow to the rightful owner, you.

Services & Websites

UInt8 does not use any third-party analytics or tracking services on its websites or online services. We make effort to minimize usage of third-party services that may collect user data, and when it’s necessary to use such services, we try our best to disclose them in user interfaces before you make the choice to use them.

We may store cookies on your browser or other web browsing programs to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and for other essential functionalities. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.

Apps on Apple Platforms

UInt8 does not directly collect any data on user activity in app, unless stated otherwise. For apps on Apple platforms, other than what is built into the operating system, apps from UInt8 themselves do not utilize any analytical data collection service.

Information on Apple data collection (App Store account info, opt-in analytics, etc), and its privacy policy (and full legal compliance information), can be found on Apple’s Privacy webpage.

In particular, analytics data collection is opt-in (Settings -> Privacy -> Analytics on Apple’s operating systems) and is aggregated and anonymized using differential privacy techniques to make it difficult or impossible to extract an individual user’s information from the aggregated data.

Apple only makes this data available in aggregate and the UInt8 do not have access to an individual user’s information. For examples of the aggregate data made available, see Apple’s App Analytics in App Store Connect page.

If the app or some functionalities is designed to work with an online service (e.g. cloud storage, account services, etc), please refer to the privacy policy for that specific service for information on data collection related to that service.

If you are invited to an UInt8 app during beta testing via TestFlight, please note that Apple may collect additional data for beta testing purposes. If you decided to share a feedback or crash report via TestFlight, any information you filled in (e.g. email addresses, description of problem, screenshots, diagnostic information, etc.) will be shared with Apple and UInt8. For more information, see Apple’s TestFlight & Privacy page. These data are only used for the purpose of improving the app during beta testing, and will not be used for any other purpose.

Please DO note that third-party content you use in UInt8 apps may have their own user data collection behaviors and privacy policy. Please consult their providers for further information, and UInt8 can NOT be held responsible for any data collection or privacy issues related to third-party content. Examples of third-party content include, but are not limited to, embedded web content, embedded media content, and third-party services (e.g. authentication services, payment services, etc).

Purchasing Products or Services

When you purchase products or services from UInt8, it’s inevitable that we had to ask for some personal data from you to process the transaction. In that case, we do not collect them ourselves, but instead use third-party payment processors to handle the transaction. We do not store any of your payment information on our servers. In particular, we may use one of the following third-party payment processors:

We strive to offer a variety of payment options to accommodate different user preferences, while ensuring that we do not have access to your sensitive payment information. We try to offer all payment options that are available for every purchase, but please note that some payment options may not be available in certain regions due to various reasons (e.g. regulatory restrictions, technical limitations, etc).

Depending on the payment processor used, we may have access to some of your personal data related to the transaction, such as your name, email address, and billing method type. However, we do not use this data for any purpose other than processing the transaction and providing customer support if needed. We do not share this data with any third parties, except as necessary to comply with legal obligations.
